Bear Sighting

Stay bear aware – with your garbage and when moving between your RV and the washrooms/laundry room

We have had our first bear sighting of 2024. It was seen on the 100 level around 1:00 a.m. last Sunday. This is a good time to remind everyone to be bear aware. Do not leave any garbage outside your RV including drippings on a BBQ. Separate your food waste from your dry waste, and put the garbage in the appropriate bin. And be alert when you are walking around the resort at dawn and at dusk – the time when bears are the most active. Spring is the most dangerous time for bears between their hunger and their young.

Let’s make it as unsatisfying as possible for bears to hang out in the park. I will remind you that last year, Langdale RV had a bear who got inside an RV. Here at Twin Creeks, we had a bear that was attracted to a BBQ in the Spring. Then in the Fall, an empty pizza box sitting in a container outside someone’s RV was so interesting that the bear visited that RV for 2 or 3 days before he moved on.

The scenario we hope for is bears walking onto the property, going towards the garbage, and then walking through the ravine below the 300 level.

And yes, it is ok to text us or your neighbours if you find a bear squatting outside your door. We will do what we can to assist you.
