Please be advised that a bear has been walking through the park. This morning, the bear opened 2 cars and got into some garbage that was left outside by mistake. It also broke some trees. This behaviour is not unusual for this time of year, and we need to be extra vigilant until the first frost.
This is a reminder that garbage should not be left outside your RV for any reason. Once the bear has been rewarded at your site, it will tend visit repeatedly. Cars are also targeted, so make sure you lock your car at night, and do not leave any garbage inside your vehicle. If you leave your RV overnight or for any length of time, you can put your picnic table in front of the door. There are also special inside/outside locks available (door lock).
If you are trying to scare a bear away, do not hesitate to use bear horns and bangers, even if it is the middle of the night. It alerts others in the park that a bear is on site. Know that bears will attempt doors whether the RVs are occupied or not.
If the bear becomes a nuisance or a danger, it is important to call Conservation (1-877-952-7277). The hotline is available 24/7. They use the calls to follow the bear’s path.
Let’s keep working together to keep this park safe.
