For the first time in 3 years, there is a bear pulling up lids on the septic tanks. Twin Creeks has 3 septic areas – one below the 300 level, one outside the pumphouse, and one beside the water storage. The bear has pulled a septic tank lid at each area since the spring, but it has pulled the lid twice outside the pumphouse.
We have made the decision to put up an electric fence outside the pumphouse to see if this will deter the bear. We know some of the dog walkers go up in this area, so please let them know about the fence (it is marked as electric). The fence is low voltage, set to cause pain not death.
We anticipate that the new fence will cause the bear to try the lids at the 300 level or outside the water storage. If this happens, we will be erecting electric fences in those areas as well. If you notice a septic lid has been pulled, please text us right away, and Harvey will go and secure it.
