Bear Sightings In the Park

It’s that time of year again. From reports, it seems like 2 different bears have been seen in the park this week. Here are your annual reminders.

Please ensure that you are doing everything you can to deter bears from your RV. No food garbage in cars. Lock your car doors, as the bears will go in out of curiosity. No food garbage in the washrooms or laundry. No scrapings left on BBQs. The 300 level is of particular interest as it is right next to the bear path.

This behaviour should lessen next month as food becomes available at higher elevations (away from humans). In the meantime, we suggest, at a minimum, you have a bear horn. The park has the small bear horns for sale for $18 if you need one. If you set off your horn (even if it is early in the morning or late at night), you will warn everyone in the park that there is a bear in the vicinity, and alert them to be cautious when moving outside.
